Dear Parent/Guardian:
As you know, this year we will have trimesters and our 5th grade report card will have rubric scores of 1-4 instead of letter grades. You will see a rubric score on tests, quizzes and projects instead of a numerical score. Please understand that a 4 does not equal an A, nor does a 3 equal a B, etc.
Your child’s level of proficiency is determined through a combination of data and teacher judgement that accurately reflects your child’s true level of understanding as it relates to the standards. I wanted to let you know what each score represents.
4 ~ Student work exceeds standards and shows in-depth understanding that goes beyond what was explicitly taught.
3 ~ Student work at this level is on track to meet or meets end of year grade level expectation.
2 ~ Student work is progressing toward grade level expectations.
1 ~ Student work is beginning to show progress/understanding.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out ~ 270-8007 or [email protected]
Sincerely,
Mrs. Colapietro
